Brief
HENNET held a Community Based Health Care Services ( CBHC) workshop (workshop report on HENNET website) in July 2007. Some of the recommendations of this workshop included:
1.Formation of a National TWG to oversee implementation of the national community health strategy and further discuss emerging gaps in relation to the national community health strategy (the TWG has since matured to a full Interagency Coordinating Committee -i.e. the Community Strategy ICC)
2.Carry out a quick assessment on HENNET members involved in CBHC activities.
3.Formation of a task force among HENNET members to oversee the implementation of the workshop recommendations.
The National TWG was formed at “MOH” and met in November 2007 to agree on its scope of work and composition. HENNET has since carried out a quick assessment of members involved in CBHC and a detailed map and database was disseminated to HENNET members and is available on the HENNET website. In 2008 and 2009 HENNET members were actively involved in the development and piloting of the MoPHS CBHIS tools.
TWG membership
The HENNET CS TWG currently has 5 members namely:
1. Aga Khan Health Services (AKHS)
2. AMREF
3. Basic Needs UK in Kenya
4. Great Lakes University of Kisumu (GLUK)
5. Intra Health,
6. World Vision (WV).
The above organiisations represent HENNET at the CS ICC
